Jenelle Evans is pregnant, happy, and loving-up on her baby daddy, Nathan Griffith — but there's just one catch. This Teen Mom 2 star is still married to her estranged husband, Courtland Rogers, and they might not get divorced before Jenelle goes into labor. The horror.
Jenelle and Courtland were officially separated in April 2013 after getting arrested on felony heroin possession charges. The state of North Carolina requires that married couples be apart for an entire year before filing for divorce, which means poor Jenelle was forced to wait 12 months for freedom.
The good news is that Jenelle and Courtland's divorce proceedings are well underway. Wetpaint Entertainment exclusively learned that Jenelle filed on Friday, May 2, 2014, and Courtland Rogers received the papers a few days later on May 8. But when will they officially split? Hopefully before Jenelle's due date in late June.“
There is a court date set for June 2 to determine when a hearing can be held and then hopefully Jenelle can be divorced from Courtland before her baby is born, but she may not be,” a source tells RadarOnline.com. "Jenelle wants to be free and not married to Courtland so she can marry Nathan.”
With any luck, Jenelle and Courtland's hearing will be scheduled promptly so they can put their fraught relationship behind them once and for all! Especially since it appears as though North Carolina state law stipulates that a husband's name be included on a child's birth certificate until a paternity test proves that he isn't the father.
