Jennette McCurdy Feuding With Nickelodeon, Wants Same Pay as Ariana Grande — Report (VIDEO)

Man, for a kid network, Nickelodeon sure has been experiencing a lot of controversy over the last few weeks. The drama all began when nude photos were leaked of Sam & Cat star Jennette McCurdy, which were rumored to have put the actress at odds with network execs. And now, insiders are saying that the real source of the issue is that Jennette wants more pay — namely, that equal to co-star, Ariana Grande.

It became glaringly obvious that the 21-year-old was angry with her bosses when she didn’t show up at last weekend’s Kids’ Choice Awards — though Ariana did. Amidst fan whispers, Jennette chose to hit up Twitter to share her side of the story:

"I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is) and I had to look out for me. I chose to not go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing."

She also explained that the veiled comments she’s making here are in reference to Nickelodeon, and not the racy photos that were leaked. And those grievances are, according to TMZ, solely in regards to her paycheck. Apparently, Ariana makes a whole lot more cashola than her equal-air-time co-star. However, the site’s sources say that Jennette has been so far unsuccessful in negotiating her deal.

While these issues have been going on behind the scenes, the popular show’s production has been halted. However, a network rep for the show spoke with FOX News and only had positive things to say about their talent, explaining that the program is expected to return in the fall.

“We have the utmost respect for Jennette McCurdy,” the rep stated, adding, “We are wrapping up what was an unusually long production cycle of ‘Sam & Cat,’ and everyone is understandably tired. We are going into our production hiatus next week which will give everyone on the show a much needed rest.”

Sounds like a whole lotta industry mumbo jumbo, but if there is an embarrassing difference in pay between the girls, good for Jennette for standing up for herself!
