Something is going on between Jennette McCurdy and Nickelodeon, but it’s definitely not about money. While Jennette failed to attend the 2014 Kid’s Choice Awards because she’d been mistreated by the network, Ariana Grande is now assuring us it has nothing to do with Jennette being angry that her Sam & Cat co-star makes more money than she does.
Why? Because she doesn’t — and according to Ariana, it’s been that way from the beginning.
Ariana took to Twitter Thursday night to clear the air, and while she didn’t give us any insight as to why Jennette and Nickelodeon aren’t getting along, she did establish one thing as fact: She and Jennette receive equal paychecks.
“Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show,” the 20-year-old actress explained. “The rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false.”
That’s a pretty solid agreement to have — and it sounds to us like Ariana and Jennette handled their contracts with more grace than a lot of TV stars twice their age do when they start seeing visions of dollar signs dancing in their heads.
“As far as the show goes, I don’t know what’s happening because I’m not directly involved with the problem,” Ariana continued. “I am NOT making more money than my costar, nor do I think I should be. So can we all move on and get out of our heads that this was a money thing ‘cause I don’t play like that at all. I am, have always been and always will be about equality and fairness.”
So what is going on? Any ideas?
