Count Jennifer Aniston among the league of women — we see you, Cameron Diaz! — who are fighting against those who give a bad name to the aging process. The 45-year-old actress is proud to be getting older, and the last thing she wants is to be told she looks good “for her age.”
“Your age always has to be mentioned and men don’t really get that for some reason,” Jen tells Women’s Wear Daily in a recent interview. “It’s not like you see Joe Schmo, 37.”
Jennifer has a point — men are often told they look more dignified as they get older, while women usually feel the need to fight the process with extreme procedures like plastic surgery. Where are the anti-aging products for men, anyway? And then, with the added pressure of how youth-obsessed Hollywood is, nobody can be expected to truly keep up.
Besides, we’re living in a different time now, and there’s no reason not to embrace yourself and your body at any age.
“Women and men today in their 40s are so much healthier than they were 30 years ago in their 40s,” Jennifer points out. “We know how to take care of ourselves. We know what to put into our bodies to fuel us that’s healthy and organic and not processed, and the importance of drinking water and cutting out sugars and bad fats.”
“Before, we just didn’t know that,” the Horrible Bosses star adds. “We didn’t have the technology with skin care that we have today.”
And in our opinion, Jennifer looks better for any age — and we think most people would have a hard time arguing anything different.
