Jennifer Hudson’s Half-Brother Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Ex’s Boyfriend (VIDEO)
Jennifer Hudson's half-brother may face attempted murder charges today as the prime suspect in a stabbing case.
Per local news station WWMT, police in Van Buren County, Michigan, say 45-year-old Stephen Angelo Simpson attacked the boyfriend of his estranged wife on August 18 at her apartment in South Haven Township, a community on the shores of Lake Michigan.
The shared parent between Jennifer and Stephen is presumably Jennifer's late father, Samuel Simpson, who died in 1999.
The police identify the victim only as Charlie but say they're unsure if he was the intended target or if Stephen's wife was. During the attack, the wife locked herself in the bathroom until Stephen left, police say.
A neighbor named Torrey Hart tells WWMT that Charlie answered a knock at the door and was stabbed.
"I open the door and see blood everywhere," Torey recalls. "He was stabbed in his chin and his chest. He had puncture wounds in his chest and his arms and stuff … I am thinking he could die any minute."
Luckily, Charlie is expected to fully recover after getting 20 to 30 stitches at the hospital. Stephen, meanwhile, turned himself in at the South Haven Police Department, where he was arrested on probable cause. WWMT reports he's expected to be charged with home invasion and attempted murder.
