Jennifer Hudson to Join ‘The Voice’ as Coach for Season 13
The singer will be filling show favorite Alicia Keys’s spot, joining Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and a returning Miley Cyrus, according to Variety.
“Jennifer is an extraordinary vocal talent and one of the premier voices of our time. She embodies the experience, expertise, positivity and sheer talent that The Voice stands for,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and reality division.
“Her exceptional skills as a singer and actress have extended to film, television and Broadway, which makes her an incredible addition and a natural fit for our show.”
The singer should already know what to expect, as she served as the winning coach on the U.K. edition of the series just last year.
As someone who’s already gone through the reality competition process, she’s certainly a prime candidate.
While she didn’t win her season of AI, losing to friend and fellow R&B star Fantasia, she went on to win an Academy Award for her supporting role in Dreamgirls.
American Idol is also set to return to ABC, and will certainly be compared to its NBC counterpart upon its arrival.
