The much-buzzed-about American Hustle has yet to hit theaters — it comes out this Friday, December 13! — but it has already earned four of its stars Golden Globe noms, including our gal Friday, Jennifer Lawrence. So what dramatic work of art did JLaw tap into for her potential award-winning role? Oh, that would be The Real Housewives of New Jersey. We’re sorry, can you say that again?

Jennifer sat down with MTV News to chat about her new role in the David O. Russell film, and the actress let it slip that her booze-loving Jersey housewife of Christian Bale’s character was actually inspired, in part, by Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, and the gang — though maybe not totally with intention. Jen admits that she’s a big fan of the Real Housewives franchise, and repeat viewings of the Garden State edition may have accidentally influenced her character’s jersey accent:

"I can't tell where it came from because I just kind of started speaking in it,” she confessed. “And I've been watching a lot of reality TV shows and those reality TV shows have a lot of New Jersey women, so I can't say that it's not from them. I wish I could, I really wish I could."

No judgment here, Jen. God knows we’ve partaken in our fair share of endless Real Housewives marathons. Just, please, no one tell Teresa. We don’t want it to go to her head. Or worse, start a “who inspired Jennifer more” battle between her and Melissa.

What do you think of JLaw’s confession? Let us know in the comments.
