Jennifer Lawrence has always been our imaginary best friend, but 2013 was the year she really caught fire. Accordingly, People has named one of this year's 25 Most Intriguing People, and considering her face dominates the cover of the issue coming out December 20, we'd have to assume that she's the topliner!
In case you've been trapped underneath the glittery ball in Times Square since last New Year's Eve, let's review J.Law's banner year. First of all, she swept us off our feet in Silver Linings Playbook — and, in accepting the Oscar for Best Actress, she lost her own footing. Then she awesomely photobombed Sarah Jessica Parker at the Met Gala. Then she covered herself in blue makeup to reprise her role as Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Then she took off a lot of makeup for a stunning Dior ad. Then she cut her hair — and then cut it even further. Then she gave affirming and nonjudgmental responses to questions about body image, fat-shaming, and Miley Cyrus. Then she stepped off a red carpet to comfort a sobbing young fan. Then she appeared in a little movie called The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Then she earned more Oscar buzz for her movie American Hustle.
So while Pope Francis, the Duck Dynasty folks, Angelina Jolie, and the royal family also appear on the list, we all have to recognize that 2013 was Year of the Lawrence.
