Jennifer Lawrence may not have been present at the British Academy Film Awards on February 16 to accept the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in American Hustle — she was busy with X-Men: Days of Future Past reshoots at the time — but don't think that she didn't react to the news in true J.Law fashion.

"Oh, it was a big surprise," she tells Deadline during a break on the Montreal X-Men set. "I didn't remember that the BAFTAs were happening that day. I certainly did not think I was going to win one, so I put it out of my mind. So there I was, in the middle of being painted blue [to play shape-shifting mutant Mystique], and someone said, 'You just won the BAFTA!' And I said, 'Oh, go f—k yourself!' And then it turned out they were serious."

Furthermore, she sounds relieved that director David O. Russell was in London to accept the award on her behalf — and to speak as eloquently as he did.

"Have you not seen my last Oscar moment?" she quips. "I handled myself so well. I think it's really unfair to make a person speak in front of the entire world at a moment like that because it is just so overwhelming. It was terrifying, and what I regret now is not doing what you're supposed to, which is even having a few words, something, that you can say, or even some idea if they do call your name …  It looked like I was drunk."

Well, we'd take the ramblings of a potentially-drunk J.Law over most other yawn-inducing acceptance speeches any day!
