Jennifer Lawrence’s Astute Body Image Speech Empowers Us All (VIDEO)

Jennifer Lawrence proved herself to be even more flawless on Wednesday, October 6, as she told young people that they don't need to be!

In the video below from Yahoo's Q&A with the 23-year-old that day — part of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire's Global Fan Day — a man asks her a question on behalf of his daughter about Jennifer's experiences with body-related critiques and her advice for young people dealing with the same harassment from peers.

"Well, screw those people," J.Law retorts, as everyone laughs and claps.

"Aw, thanks," she responds. "It's something that everybody experiences. I experienced it in school before I was famous … You just have to look past it. You look how you look. And be comfortable. Like, what are you gonna do? Be hungry for every single day to make other people happy? That's just dumb."

Then she targets the media: "The shows like Fashion Police … are just showing these generations of young people to judge people based on things that… you know, they put values on all the things that are wrong and that it's OK to just point people and call them 'ugly' and call them 'fat.' And they call it 'fun' and [say] 'Welcome to the real world.'"

"And it's like, that shouldn't be the real world," she contends. "It's gonna keep being the real world if we keep it that way. It's not until we stop treating each other like that and just stop calling each other 'fat' and stop with these unrealistic expectations for women. it's disappointing that the media keeps it alive and fuels that fire. It's something that really bothers me… because I love to eat. [Laughs]"

World, meet your ultimate role model.
