Jennifer Lopez Shot Down by The Voice

Rejection is a hard thing, and apparently former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez experienced quite the rejection from The Voice recently.

According to sources, J.Lo offered up her vocal services to the NBC singing competition show as a guest star for its season finale, to which they reportedly said, "No thanks."

"She made a formal offer to be on the show," one insider said. "They said no to that."

This source has been confirmed by an NBC representative who said that Jennifer did make that offer, but she didn't make the cut due to scheduling issues. But another source says that J.Lo was setting her sights even higher.

"She also submitted herself to have a recurring role," a source said. "When you submit yourself to be a performer, the show can see how [the fans] and ratings react to your episode. But, they said no to both."

Ouch, that cuts deep. But before you go thinking that The Voice has it out for J.Lo, an NBC rep gave reasoning behind the rejection. "It was simply a matter of timing. The producers love Jennifer Lopez and tried to make it work, but due to the show’s format it just didn't allow for another solo performance."

Another source close to the show added, "Cher was booked months in advance. There was only room left for someone to do duets [with the finalists]. But the genres were country and EDM [electronic dance music] — which did not seem like a natural pairing."

And don't worry too much about J.Lo. There are rumblings that she could be returning to American Idol in a judging capacity. I guess we'll just have to see!
