American Idol Alum Jermaine Jones Calls Racist Claims Against Show “Ludicrous”

With the huge news of the racism lawsuit against American Idol surfacing yesterday, alums are speaking out against the claims. Former contestant Jermaine Jones is speaking out and refusing to even acknowledge the lawsuit.

"I think they are going a little overboard," the Season 11 alum, who was disqualified after making the top 11, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Ten former contestants are asking for $25 million each after claiming the show dug into their pasts and got them disqualified from the show. Jermaine dismisses their allegations as "ludicrous."

"Some of these cases are over 10 years old,” he argues. “What have you been doing since the show that you feel you deserve $25 million?”

Jermaine says that the best thing to do is to use Idol to start your career, whether you win or not. "Isn’t that the right thing to do? I am grateful for the exposure, the good and the bad," he says. Jermaine also said that when the suit surfaced, the plaintiffs tried to include him, and even threatened to subpoena him to testify.

It's all water under the bridge, as far as Jones is concerned. "God don’t like ugly," he says. "You can’t win when you are ugly."
