MTV’s decision to cancel its hit reality series Buckwild after Shain Gandee’s tragic death is being met with some harsh criticism — from Shain’s friends and Buckwild co-stars. According to them, MTV should honor Shain’s memory by airing Season 2.

“The show has been cancelled and my heart is in a million pieces. Shain would want us to carry on. His parents want this. So do we all.” Shain’s Buckwild co-star Shae Bradley tweeted Tuesday morning.

Her co-star Anna Davis added, “We just got the news: show is cancelled. Cannot f—ing believe this. We still have people fighting for us....”

Since finding out about its cancellation, the tight-knit group of West Virginians has launched a viral campaign to help save the show, using the Twitter hashtag #KeepBuckwildForShain. The show’s producers are also fighting to save the show. J.P. Williams, who manages most of the cast members and produces Buckwild, told The Hollywood Reporter that after halting production on Season 2, MTV made the decision to cancel the reality series with “no explanation.”

"My job is to protect these kids,” he said, suggesting that he’ll continue shooting and even self-finance a film. “This will get ugly.”

For now, the cast will keep campaigning to save the series because they say it’s what Shain would have wanted.

“We want #Buckwild to go on as much as you do. Shain would be so pissed about this,” tweeted Buckwild star Katie Saria.

Shae added, “And to all of you who say we're doing this for the money, you're ignorant. It's about a group of best friends that just lost one. We want to keep our friend’s memory alive and live like Gandee.”
