Buckwild has been canceled by MTV, but the show will still go on in the form of a special dedicated to star Shain Gandee, who tragically died last week.

UPDATE: MTV confirms to Wetpaint Entertainment that the show has been canceled, but the network will air an all-day marathon of Buckwild Season 1 on Sunday, April 14 and then premiere Buckwild: WV to the NYC, a special which was shot before production had begun on Season 2. This will act as a tribute to Shain and comes with the support of his parents, Dale and Loretta Gandee.

ORIGINAL STORY: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network will officially announce the cancellation tomorrow morning, though a “special, which was shot before Gandee’s death and was produced by an outside production company, is still expected to air.”

J.P. Williams, the show’s producer who manages most of the cast, is livid about the show’s cancellation and is fighting for Season 2 (which has shot four episodes so far) not only to air, but to continue filming, and perhaps even shoot a Buckwild film.

“There was no explanation,” he told THR of the sudden cancellation, explaining that the cast had not been informed of the news yet and had planned to attend the MTV Movie Awards on April 14. Hopefully this special will help give him and the cast some closure.
