Perhaps there is hope for MTV’s Buckwild ratings after all.

According to Deadline, the new reality series garnered more debut viewers than Jersey Shore did during its 2009 opening episode.

Numerically, Buckwild earned 2.49 million viewers and a 1.4 rating for its Thursday (January 3) opening back-to-back episodes, a full million more than what Jersey Shore scored on debut – 1.375 million.

Of course, the proof’s still in the ‘nana puddin’ for Buckwild because it was Jersey Shore’s later successes – ringing in upwards of 9 million viewers in its prime – that made the show a phenomenon.
