Most people (okay, maybe all people) wouldn’t consider Jersey Shore a testament to feminism but stars Snooki and JWOWW think that the show highlights a certain type of modern woman.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, the dynamic duo revealed their surprising thoughts on feminism. When asked if they consider themselves feminists, JWOWW at first responds that she wouldn’t, but upon clarification Snooki decides that she would consider herself a feminist.

“I thought feminism was derogatory in a sense,” JWOWW said. “Have you ever seen Borat? There were feminists in Borat and they were like [to Borat] ‘You're so stereotypical!’”

Borat, of course, refers to Sacha Baron Cohen’s hit movie where he played an offensive but endearingly naive Khazikstan reporter who poked fun of feminists and misogynists alike. We can’t speak for JWOWW but it sounds like she is saying that calling someone a feminist is akin to calling them a humorless harpy who hates men.

“I'm sure [feminism] means different things,” Snooki explains. “But to us, we're just strong women.”

“I think we're more like men because we do show our sexuality and burp and fart,” JWOWW continues.

So, while Jenni may only be getting her definition of feminism from a satire film from 2006, at least she and self-proclaimed feminist Snooks feel like they are showing the world images of “strong women.”
