Jersey Shore's Snooki and JWOWW.
Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer just scored a point in the latest round of The Government of New Jersey vs. The Jersey Shore cast.
Zimmer recently banned JWOWW and Snooki from filming their spin-off in the mile-wide city. Now the Associated Press reports that Italian-American group Italian American One Voice Coalition is giving Zimmer the "Una Voce" award for her anti-Jersey Shore efforts.
The group thinks the Macaroni Rascals promote negative stereotypes about Italians, and are apparently proud of Zimmer for taking a stand against them. Of course, Zimmer claimed that she rejected the spin-off for "public safety and quality of life concerns," not because of Snooki and JWOWW's negative image, but hey, details.
(Speaking of details, Snooki and JWOWW are ironically two of the only Jersey Shore cast mates who aren't Italian. Make of that what you will.)
Of course, Zimmer's ban was only a small roadblock for the show: The spin-off has already been granted permission to film in Jersey City instead.
Do you think Zimmer deserves recognition for not allowing Jersey Shore cast members to film in her city? Sounds off at our Facebook page.
Jersey Shore airs Thursdays at 10 pm ET/PT on MTV.
