Jersey Shore may be all about booze, boobs, and bromance for Vinny, but outside the show this guido has a more serious side. As we previously reported, Vin took a spin as a guest lecturer in a sociology class at Columbia University on Wednesday, November 2nd.
This lecture was in conjuncture with the anti-bullying campaign Vinny has been involved in with DoSomething.org and was sponsored by Popcorn, Indiana brand snacks.
"Even though Vinny is funny on TV, he recognizes bullying is an incredibly severe matter and a cause close to his heart,” explains Catie Miller, head of the the campaign for DoSomething.org. "We thank Vinny for making a difference and helping 35,000 teens take action against bullying as part of our ‘Step Up to Bullying’ campaign."
Check out photos from the event below.
While reports surfaced that Vinny was mocked by one student who asked what exactly made him qualified to speak about setting an example for young children when his TV show isn’t exactly child-friendly, most of the students looked like they enjoyed a visit from Jersey Shore’s smartest guido, posing for photos with the star and delivering super-enthusiastic high-fives across the lecture hall’s aisles. Yep, even Ivy Leaguers aren’t immune to the charm of an MTV reality star.
The cutest part of the whole visit? Vinny’s schoolboy chic cardigan. Quite a departure from his graphic print t-shirt and retina-burning purple pants!
