It’s hard to imagine, but there are people out there who would not welcome Jersey Shore stars Snooki and JWOWW with open arms. And some of them own bars in Jersey City.
The Jersey Journal reports that “At least three Downtown Jersey City bars have rejected contracts permitting MTV to use the establishments to film the show, according to a City Hall source.”
One of these bars, LITM, has even gone so far as to have a big sign with an “anti-Snooki message” posted above the bar. And the manager of the restaurant Skinner’s Loft has banned Snooki, JWOWW, and the MTV crew from his eatery, saying filming would be “intrusive.”
But perhaps most surprising is Barcade’s refusal to work with the ladies of leisure. Barcade sounds like Seaside Heights in restaurant form: half-bar, half-arcade.
“Owner Paul Kermizian said he doesn’t think the culture associated with Jersey Shore would work with his...set-up.”
Has he even seen the show? We’re sure he’d love it if he gave it a chance!
UPDATE: On Thursday, February 23, we received a statement from a representative of LITM: "Contrary to recent press, LITM has never displayed an 'anti-Snooki' message, banner, or sign above its bar. Proprietor Jelynne Jardiniano's decision to not participate as a filming location for this reality series is based in LITM's commitment to maintaining the comfort of our customer base."
Catch an all-new Jersey Shore on Thursday, February 23 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
