As Jersey Shore’s creator, SallyAnn Salsano must get hounded for new show ideas all the time. She is, of course, the producer who took a “bunch of kids” spending their summer at the beach and turned them into MTV’s highest-rated show of all time. So what has the melodrama mastermind come up with for her sophomore effort on the music channel?

Her new show, Friendzone, films two best friends who know everything about each other except for one major detail: one of them has a serious crush on the other. As the trailer below indicates, about half are rejected, and half suddenly have new boyfriends or girlfriends. As SallyAnn explains, “I think a lot of people stay in limbo land and are afraid to get the answer, but you’re better off knowing one way or the other.”

And just in case you’re wondering whether or not to believe the clever scenarios on screen, SallyAnn promises, “It’s not like a fake reality dating show with pretty lighting, limousines, rose petals, and twinkle lights.”

Well, at least until the second season.
