By now you’ve probably heard Pauly D’s debut single (and Wetpaint Entertianment’s new song of the summer) “Night of My Life,” featuring singer/rapper Dash. We caught up with the charismatic Dash to discuss what it’s like to work with Pauly D, what new projects he has in the works, and what he thinks of Deadmau5 slamming the “Night of My Life” music video.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What was it like working with Pauly D?
Dash: It was an honor working with Pauly! I was glad I got to take part in making a record that represents Pauly D, which is all about having fun and living life to the fullest! That’s what it’s all about!
Were you a fan of his before you joined up with him for the song?
Jersey Shore is one of my favorite TV shows! I felt like he was the guy on the show always swaggin’, and he was always into music so I could relate to him for that. Being able to relate to Pauly and his personality enabled us to make magic happen in the studio.
What was the process like working with Pauly?
G-NOTE came to my label, Kingpin Entertainment/ECMG, they liked my vocals and tone, so they linked Me, Joe Boom, and Ayb with Pauly to make a record about having the best night ever, “The Night Of My Life.” So we rocked out in the studio and created the song!
What was his work personality like vs. his personality on the show?
His work personality was pretty much the same as his personality on the show. He’s hyped all about having a good time in life. That's my dude!
What has the response been for the song? Are you getting more offers or more fans?
The response has been positive, definitely! It's a fist pump party record. The reactions of crowds when the song comes on is crazy! Full of energy, fun, and excitement. I've definitely been gaining more fans and getting more offers! This song was an opportunity to make the world aware of Dash and my journey. The positive response from the song has led to lots of positive things in my career.
What did you think of Deadmau5 slamming the "Night of My Life" video on Twitter?
There's always going be haters. To have hate just means that you’re getting love, and the song is getting way more love than hate! I really think it was cool the way Pauly handled it, too. At the end of the day, opinions are just opinions. That kind of negativity doesn't connect with me.
What projects do you have coming up?
I'm shooting the video for my new single, “Love To Love Ya.” Recording more music, and continuing my journey as an entertainer. Getting better every day! Stay Tuned in to @DASH. This is just the beginning….
Do you plan on working with Pauly again?
Pauly is a really busy dude but we’ve talked about working together in the future, whenever we can! I would definitely love to work with him again! Hopefully everything plays out in the future to hit y'all with another DJ Pauly D featuring Dash record, or the other way around.
What other people would you like to collaborate with in the future?
LMFAO, Wale, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Rita Ora, just to name a few. There are so many talented artists out today and even a few from the past that I’d like to collaborate with. Music is a universal language, so you never know. Just know that when you see my name behind a record, press play. I won't let you down!
