On the last episode of Jersey Shore (Season 6, Episode 4: “Merp Walk”), Roger Mathews and JWOWW were involved in one of the scariest club fights we’ve ever seen on the show. But the scariest part might have been watching Roger shove his now-fiancee so hard that she fell on the floor.

The day after the episode aired (October 12), Roger tweeted a simple statement, saying that he understands that people are going to judge, and that they were expecting a lot of commentary. Now, Roger has elaborated on his initial statement, and added a fuller explanation on
Twitter.

Here is what he wrote.

Was a preventable incident. We both learned from it. I need to control my temper better and jenni should not get...in between me and other grown men who are about to go at it. My intention was to get her out of the way from...the larger danger which was fists flying from both sides but I could have done a better job for sure.”

What do you think of Roger’s new statement? On one hand, at least he is owning up to his irresponsible behavior. On the other hand, is it really a good move to assign some of the blame to JWOWW? Or is that a sign that he’s just making excuses? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!

Catch the next new episode of Jersey Shore on Thursday, October 18 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
