The Jersey Shore’s cast spent a lot of time working (and not working, at times) at the Seaside Heights Shore Store over the course of the series, so owner Danny Merk became a major part of the group.

Danny, who also owns the house the gang lived in for four of the six seasons along with several other businesses and local properties, has had a really rough couple of weeks due to Hurricane Sandy, which devastated Seaside Heights.

According to NY Daily News, Danny says he has lost a ton of revenue from the superstorm and not just at the Shore Store.

“Sandy got me on every end,” he said, explaining that his Florida-based stores suffered power outages during a pivotal period of time when he would ordinarily make a fortune — the weekend before Halloween.

“I lost tons of money,” Danny continued, “and then she touches down in my cute little town of Seaside Heights and messes it up … That house could take a lickin,’ but the Shore Store not so much because it’s right on the water. My door’s a little bashed in. The ocean was pretty much inside my store because of the way the water went in. It ruined a lot of merchandise.”

According to Danny, his friends on the show have all reached out to him following the devastation. In fact, he even said that Vinny – who’s been handy in clean up and fundraising efforts – called on him before his own mother did.

Also ruined are his other rental properties in the area. “I’m hearing there’s 5 feet of sand on one street so no one can even go look at my house ... Five feet — that’s taller than Nicole [Snooki]!” he explained.

Poor Danny! Here’s to a speedy property restoration process!

For what it’s worth, on November 15, the Jersey Shore’s cast will be teaming up for an MTV fundraiser called “Restore the Shore” to benefit Seaside Heights.
