After Buckwild star Shain Gandee died tragically yesterday, we were left with a lot of questions. While we now know that his cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning, one mystery still remains: Will the hit MTV show go on without him?

Yesterday, Buckwild Season 2 stopped production immediately, though there is still no confirmation whether this shutdown is permanent and if any future episodes will air. And if the show does continue, MTV would have to make the tough decision of airing Shain’s scenes or omitting them completely.

While the show was renewed after a successful first season, it received a lot of backlash from Charleston, West Virginia — the town in which Buckwild is filmed — including from mayor Danny Jones.

Recently, the mayor told TMZ that he wants the show canceled, saying, “Of the few cast members on the show, already two have had legal issues and now one has died.  The show only enhances the negative stereotype the Kanawha Valley already has. I hope the show’s life is short.”

However, since MTV has been working so hard to pay tribute to Shain, his deceased uncle, and their family friend (both were in the truck with him), they may want to continue the show to help fans connect with the cast and remember the 21-year-old star.

On the flip side, out of respect for their families and friends, they may cancel it immediately, focusing on their other shows instead and not thrusting the Gandee family into the spotlight during such a difficult time.

Ultimately, do you think Buckwild should be canceled? Share your thoughts below.
