Snooki & JWOWW may not be the new Jersey Shore, ratings-wise, but it still had an impressive debut on Thursday night.

The ratings are in for the duo’s first spin-off, and the show pulled in 2.4 million viewers with a 1.1 rating among viewers 18-49. That’s nowhere near Jersey Shore numbers, which usually pull in over 7 million per episode, but it is an impressive number for a summer cable debut.

However, Snooki & JWOWW did premiere a tad below Pauly D’s eponymous spin-off, The Pauly D Project. The first Jersey Shore spin-off premiered with 2.9 million viewers. However, the show also premiered in the spring and had a lead-in with the popular Punk’d reboot. The show’s numbers quickly dipped, with 1 million viewers tuning in for its finale last week.

At the time, critics said that The Pauly D Project, which followed Pauly’s tour as a successful DJ, wasn’t as interesting as Jersey Shore. So far, there have been high hopes for Snooki & JWOWW’s series. The premiere episode wasn’t anything different from the clips and teasers we had seen in the promotional push for the show, but the promise of more drama to come (particularly with the girls’ boyfriends) will likely draw us back.
