The Pauly D Project will premiere tomorrow, March 29, and we’re as excited as Pauly D himself when the “cabs are heeyah.” Since this is the first official spin-off from Jersey Shore, there’s a bit of pressure on the boy from Rhode Island, but we have a feeling he’ll impress as always. Here are a few reasons why:

The Kid Has Got Charisma. From his immovable blow-out to his ultra-clean sneakers, Pauly D is one big charmball. As soon as he smiles, it’s hard not to fall for his genuine likeability. Even after five seasons of Jersey Shore, he seems just like the jokester from the Rhode Island suburbs who first showed up in Season 1.

Vinny’s Stand-Ins. One of Pauly’s most admirable traits is his ability to have strong friendships with guys. While this isn’t the Pauly ‘n’ Vinny show, as much as we would love that, the sneak peeks featuring Pauly’s lifelong buddies appear to portray very real childhood friendships with Biggie and Jerry, his “boys.” Oh and did we mention the ridiculously hot Ryan and JROC?

There’s a Girl...Friend. It’s a rare day when we get to see Pauly actually connect romantically with anyone of the opposite sex. For the most part, all we’ve seen is the (admittedly expert) ways that he handles getting it in, and getting her out the door. But in the promos for The Pauly D Project, we get to meet his high school girlfriend Angel Splendorio, who gives him a very manly manicure and makes him laugh.

Finally, the Fame Is Addressed. Pauly has talked about how amazed he is, to this day, to see his name on huge Las Vegas billboards. This acknowledgement of how famous and rich the cast has become since Jersey Shore blew up is something we’ve been sorely wanting, especially in the past year.

This Is a Test. With all the fuss surrounding Snooki’s pregnancy and The Situation’s prescription pill addiction and subsequent rehab stay, it will be interesting to see if Jersey Shore can transition into the Kardashians’ territory. Snooki may be the big attraction, but if Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian were able to attract viewers on their own spin-offs without Kim, then hopefully Pauly can do the same without his Jersey Shore castmates.

In any case, we just hope somebody makes a mash-up of all of Pauly’s “are heeyah” variations, from cabs to crabs to limos and beyond.

Catch the next new episode of The Pauly D Project on Thursday, March 29 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
