Vinny Explains Why He Wasn't ''Mentally Healthy'' During Season 5
As most Jersey Shore aficionados have heard, Vinny had some trouble staying “mentally healthy” (his words) when the crew started filming Season 5 last summer.
Vinny tells the NY Daily News, “Partying isn’t every aspect to my personality. Some people can do it for a year straight. Me, to be mentally healthy, there are a couple things I need.”
Such as, it turns out, plenty of acting roles. Instead of going the tried-and-tested route of shopping his own reality spin-off show around, Vinny has started exploring his artistic side, telling the paper, “I’m an artistic kind of person... I draw. I’ve drawn my whole life. When you have an imaginative mind, I think the artistic form manifests itself in different ways.”
And he claims acting was his calling from when he was just a baby guido: “My whole life I’ve been doing it, which most people don’t know,” he says. “I was always the lead role in plays. I like entertaining people.”
But beneath all that artsy mumbo jumbo, Vinny is still a Jersey Shore boy, as revealed in his description to Joonbug of his worst date of all time. “I went on a date where me and the girl were the only ones in the restaurant. You could have heard a pin drop it was so quiet,” he says. “It was awkward to sit in a dead silent place with someone you don't know for that long.”
You know what else is awkward? One of the early scenes in the first episode of Season 5, where Vinny’s affectionate mama gives former smush-buddy Snooki a huge hug and kiss in front of her man Jionni. Mama mia!
