Jersey Shore Season 5 was something of a letdown, both in terms of general enjoyability and ratings. However, recent reports say that MTV still plans to film Season 6 with the original cast this summer.
However, this raises another question: Will Season 6 be the last season? While many of the castmates are on record saying they could see doing the show forever, America's apparent Jersey Shore fatigue might mean this chapter in the Macaroni Rascals’ lives is coming to a close.
Recently, the cast has been hinting that they think Season 6 might be the end of the Jersey Shore journey.
About a month ago, when Season 6 was still up in the air, JWOWW said in an interview that there "has" to be one more season so that cast can say goodbye. While she seemed open to doing more, her emphasis was on getting that final swan song.
Likewise, a few months ago Ronnie talked about wanting to film Season 6 in Vegas or Australia, but in a recent interview he changed his tune, saying that "if this were to be our last season, I'd want it to be [in] Jersey." The idea of this being the last season didn't seem to occur to him before, but now it's what he jumps to immediately.
Although it's possible the cast will stick around for many seasons to come (especially if the ratings improve), all the uncertainty surrounding Season 6 makes it seem unlikely the show will last much longer — at least not with the same cast.
Fortunately, it's not like the amazing eight are hurting for things to do outside of Jersey Shore. Snooki will be a mom soon, Pauly D has his DJing career, Vinny wants to be an actor (or maybe go to Law School), and everyone has their own business ventures.
What do you think: Should Jersey Shore call it quits after next season?
