Jesse Williams Speaks Out on His Divorce and Those Cheating Rumors
The Grey’s Anatomy star is one of the celebrities who ruminate about love and relationships in Jay-Z’s companion film, Footnotes For 4:44.
And he has no patience for those cheating rumors.
Footnotes also features confessionals from Will Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Aziz Ansari, Anthony Anderson, Chris Rock, and — the man himself — Jay-Z.
For his part, for example, the rapper revealed that he and wife Beyoncé “built this big, beautiful mansion of a relationship that wasn't totally built on the 100 percent truth.”
But it’s Jesse’s part of the discussion that really piques our interest…
“I was in a relationship 13 years, 13 real years, not 5 years, not 7 years – 13 years,” Jesse said, per People, almost certainly referring to Aryn.
“All of a sudden motherf—ers are writing think-pieces that I somehow threw a 13-year relationship.”
“Like, the most painful experience I’ve had in my life like with a person I’ve loved with all of my heart – that I threw a person and my family in the trash because a girl I work with is cute,” he continued.
For the record, Jesse is reportedly dating Minka Kelly, with whom he starred in the film The Butler and voiced characters in the video game Detroit: Become Human.
For all we know, Jesse started dating Minka after he and Aryn had already separated, though that’s not what one Page Six source says. (Perhaps that article is one of those “think-pieces” to which Jesse is referring.)
By the way, it’s unclear whether this is the extent of Jesse’s collaboration with Jay-Z. A New York Daily News source spotted the 35-year-old on the set of one of Jay’s music videos, at which other actors were dressed in prison jumpsuits.
Jesse also donned an orange jumpsuit for a June 25 Instagram photo he captioned “4:44 #BlackIsTheNewOrange.”
Meanwhile, the Grey’s actor is embroiled in a (very public) custody battle with his ex, having put his accusations against her on the official record last month.
“Aryn restricts my time with the children [3-year-old Sadie and 1-year-old Maceo] and decides when and for how long I may have them,” he wrote in court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
“She has rejected, without any reason, each and every request I have made to have the children sleep over at my residence.”
“On the few days that I have the children, Aryn has insisted that my time with the children be limited during the week to approximately two-and-a-half hours per day, despite my requests for more time, including overnights with the children,” Jesse continued.
He also claimed he has “always been an active, involved, ‘hands-on’ dad.”
Jesse has always had a captivating way with words, and his 4:44 contribution is no exception.
We’d be eager to hear more of Jesse’s side of the story — it’s too bad he doesn’t have his own album with intimately personal lyrics for us to dissect!
