Jet Skier Who Hit Usher’s Stepson Convicted of Homicide

Today brings some closure on a painful chapter in the lives of Usher and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster.

Jeffrey Hubbard, the family friend whose jet ski struck Tameka’s 11-year-old son, Kile Glover, in 2012, has been convicted on five counts, TMZ reports. These include homicide by vessel, reckless operation, and unlawful operation of a personal watercraft.

The accident took place while the young boy was on vacation with his father, Ryan Glover. Kile sustained severe brain injuries and was rushed to the hospital. After several days on life support, Usher’s stepson was pronounced dead on July 6, 2012.

Despite courts finding Jeffrey at fault for Kile’s death, Tameka does not harbor ill will toward Jeffrey, who was a family friend. “At the end of the day, I know he didn’t do it on purpose,” Foster told WSB-TV (via Daily Mail). “He could’ve only loved Kile.”

It sounds like Kile was very well loved. Though he was not Usher’s biological son, the “Without U” singer was an important parental figure in his stepson’s life, both during and after the two years he was married to Tameka.

A year after Kile’s tragic death, Usher and Tameka nearly suffered another devastating loss. Five-year-old Usher Raymond V, one of their two sons together, was in a serious pool accident at Usher’s home, reawakening the contentious custody battle that has been ongoing between the two exes since their 2009 split.

Though Jeffrey’s conviction won’t bring Kile back, we hope the end of this painful lawsuit will help them to heal.
