Jillian Michaels Says She Left The Biggest Loser Over “Fundamental Differences”

Celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels has left The Biggest Loser before — opting out of Seasons 3, 12, and 13 of NBC's weight loss competition — but now it really seems like she's gone for good.

And the 40-year-old is explaining her exit in a new interview with People — the full version of which appears in the issue of the magazine that hits newsstands on July 18.

"I don't want fans to think I feel like I'm too big for the show or that I'm seeking greener pastures," Jillian explains. "I'm so grateful to the show and so sad to leave."

That said, Jillian reveals that she had "some fundamental differences [with Loser's producers] that have existed for a while."

One of those differences, she elaborates, is how the show portrayed her personality in recent seasons. In the beginning, "you saw the tough, and you saw the love," but lately the show has only shown her tough side, she says.

Another inciting factor seems to be the shock of seeing Season 15 winner Rachel Frederickson come to Season 15 finale underweight — which Jillian previously said was an unpleasant surprise.

"I had to take a hard look at my work," she says now. "I came to the conclusion that moving forward, I need to be able to have an impact on the outcome of what I do."
