Jillian Michaels Leaving The Biggest Loser (VIDEO)
Following what may have been The Biggest Loser's most newsworthy and polarizing season, Jillian Michaels has decided to leave the long-running weight loss competition.
"After helping hundreds of contestants transform their lives and inspiring millions of viewers at home, The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels have decided to part ways and she will not be returning for Season 16 when it airs in the fall," reveals NBC in a statement.
No reason for the 40-year-old trainer's exit is given, but E! Onlinecites a source who says Jillian wanted out after Season 15 when winner Rachel Frederickson ended up underweight. "She wasn't happy … The shocking weight loss of Rachel doesn't do the brand any favors, and she wants to distance her name from it," the source spilled.
"I was stunned," Jillian said of Rachel's reveal in a subsequent Huffington Post interview. "Obviously, I thought she had lost too much weight and I was immediately concerned and wondering how this happened, how no one had said something to me, and how [with] the checks and balances that have been put into place, in my opinion, this had fallen through those checks and balances."
This is actually the third time Jillian has left the series — she previously opted out of Seasons 3, 12, and 13. Only time will tell if this latest departure is permanent.
