Joe and Teresa have both been slapped with 39 counts of federal bank and bankruptcy fraud charges, but Joe's upcoming trial date is for a different charge altogether. Back in March of 2011, Joe was charged with forgery after allegedly using his brother's identification to acquire a new driver's license. His own license had been suspended due to a DUI. (For those unfamiliar with Joe's brother, Pete, the dude might as well be Joe's twin — they look exactly alike!)
Joe was offered several plea deals so far, but he has turned them all down. The paper says that his reasoning for passing on the deals was that “they wanted him to serve substantially more prison time than other alleged offenders, and claimed his celebrity played a role in the decision to go after his client.”
If Joe is found guilty for the crime, he could end up in jail for up to 10 years for using someone else's identity info, plus another 18 months for forgery. Combined with the 50 years for fraud, things sure are looking pretty bleak for Juicy Joe.
Do you think there's a chance that Joe won't be getting jail time, one way or another? Sound off in the comments section below!
