How I Met Your Mother is pulling out all the stops for its final season, bringing back familiar faces like Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston as Ted’s old boss Hammond and Wayne Brady as Barney’s brother, James, but there are still plenty of characters who aren’t confirmed to return. Among the laundry list of fan favorite guest and recurring stars through the years is True Blood’s Joe Manganiello, and the erstwhile werewolf would love to bring Brad back.
“I’d love to come back!” Joe exclaimed to Wetpaint Entertainment at the McDonald’s Mighty Wings launch party on September 15. “I did last year. We all thought last year was going to be the final season and it wasn’t, so yeah, hopefully we’ll find a way to get Brad back in there. That would be awesome!”
Joe has played Brad throughout three seasons of the hit CBS comedy. He was first introduced as Marshall’s college buddy (and later brunch bro) in Season 2, dated Robin for a hot minute in Season 5, and then used Marshall in Season 8 to get intel on a pivotal case for his company.
When we last saw Brad, he was making amends with Marshall and joining his firm, leaving the door open for a return — especially with Marshall’s impending judgeship in New York. Could they run into each other in court again, but this time from opposite ends of the stand? We’d certainly appreciate it.
If Joe doesn’t return to HIMYM, he has big TV dreams post-True Blood. When asked about what show he’d like to do next, he said, “Breaking Bad is ending, but I heard they’re doing the prequel, Better Call Saul.” And who would he play? “Oh god,” he said. “Just a bad, bad guy.”
