Olivia Pope’s Dad, Joe Morton, Got a New Gig — Is He Leaving the Show?
Uh oh, Scandal fans, we have a problem and we're not sure even Olivia Pope could solve it. Mainly, Joe Morton has just landed a seriously awesome gig as a series regular on TNT medical drama pilot Proof, and we're wondering what that means for his onscreen character, Rowan Pope.
The former B-613 head honcho was dethroned in the Season 3 midseason finale, when Captain Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) covertly took over the trigger-happy covert organization. However, since then, Mr. P has been feeding info to Sally Langston's campaign director, a fact Quinn Perkins recently discovered. With nothing to lose, he may be headed toward a battle with Jake, or may end up squaring off against Olivia. Because eventually, everyone ends up facing off with Liv...
Add to that the fact that his wife Maya/Maria (whatever her name is today) is on the loose in Washington, with her own unclear story line and vendetta, and it seems like losing Rowan is only going to complicate things further.
So, what's going to happen? Well, considering everyone on Scandal is always on the "I may get murdered tonight" button, we're guessing they'll kill him off. For a less permanent solution, he could start a new "mission" and disappear for a few episodes until TNT determines whether Joe Morton's new show is a hit. That would allow Rowan to return to Scandal without having to play the reappearing "dead" parent card again.
