Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Joe and Teresa Giudice seemed calm and composed when they sat down with Andy Cohen on What What Happens Live to discuss the charges of fraud and tax evasion against them. But what was really going on inside their heads? RadarOnline asked body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass for input.
Not surprisingly, Dr. Glass says the brave face they both tried to put on during the interview masks a whole lot of fear. That fear is well-deserved, too, as the 39 counts of conspiracy to commit fraud against them are going to give them a true dose of reality — in other words, it’s “slammer time.”
“Joe’s laughing and joking about the prison sentence being 100 years, masks his true feelings of terror at what may be in store for him. His smile is not genuine as he smiles through clenched teeth. Then he quickly leaks out his true feelings as he looks down and mumbles,” Dr. Glass says.
As for Teresa, Dr. Glass thinks her words reflect a complete 180 to what she was actually feeling.
“When Teresa says, ‘I can’t fall apart. I have my daughters,’ her eye blinking and stammering may reveal that the opposite is true…that behind the cameras she may very well be falling apart,” Dr. Glass told Radar.
What’s more, she says that Teresa’s body language, the swallowing of her words, looking up at the camera, and the “pitch break in her voice” reflect the truth — that she is not staying as strong as she says she is.
