Katy Perry and John Mayer Break Up — Report (VIDEO)

Say it isn’t so! One of Hollywood’s most adorable couples — Katy Perry and John Mayer — have called it quits after almost two years of dating, according to E! Online.

A source close to the couple says that Katy’s broken up with John “within the last few days.” Um, what?! How is this possible? Just weeks ago, their romantic Valentine’s Day date ramped up the engagement rumors to the next level. Does this mean we should shut down our Pinterest inspiration boards for their wedding?

The source didn’t share any more details about the break-up, just that it’s happened — and we’re guessing it had to be something major to have happened so suddenly.

The couple was first spotted together in the summer of 2012, and we weren’t sure their relationship was the best idea in the world. After all, John doesn’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to dating, so can you blame us? But once we saw how happy he made Katy (especially after her messy divorce with Russell Brand), we were on board.

And now they’re broken up? We were waiting for sparkly ring pictures, not the worst news ever! We aren’t emotionally stable enough for this!

But let’s not be hasty. Before we get too upset, we have to remember that the couple has split up in the past only to get back together later on — on multiple occasions. If the rumors are true (fingers crossed they aren’t!), maybe another reunion is in their future?

It better be, or else we won’t be able to listen to “Who You Love” without doing the ugly cry. In the meantime, we’ll keep an eye out on Twitter for any 140 character messages that could confirm or deny their break up.

And if you’re very quiet, you can almost hear the sound of Taylor Swift whispering, “You should’ve known.
