John Mayer Returns to Twitter After Three-Year Hiatus
Twitter, John Mayer just can’t quit you. The 36-year-old singer has officially returned to the Twittersphere after more than three years away.
John left the flock of light blue birds in September 2010, reports E! News, signing off with the short message, “What does this button do?” That clever farewell is nowhere in sight on John’s recently rebooted profile, however. Tuning back in on January 31, he led with the equally pithy “I’m back. What’d I miss?”
We’d answer but summing up three years in the Twitterverse in under 140 characters is darn near impossible.
So far in his triumphant return to tweeting, John has given his more than 360,000 followers such jewels as “I’m the Kenny Powers of Twitter” and “I’ll be honest, when it came to rejoining twitter, I had mixed emojis.” He’s also been pulling the internet’s leg with his tongue-in-cheek references to yesterday’s news.
“Been waiting SO long to share this with you. It’s so bad it’s good. Take a look,” he wrote along with a link to Rebecca Black’s infamous music video for “Friday.” Wait until you see “Saturday,” John!
He’s also sent girlfriend Katy Perrya little social media love. “Also #FF @katyperry,” he wrote in his series of “I’m back” tweets on Friday. Katy’s one of just 24 people John currently follows. The list also includes photographer Sam Jones, comedian James Smith, and us. JK on that last part. We can only dream.
