Johnny Depp Subpoenaed to Testify at Murder Trial — Report (VIDEO)

Even Captain Jack Sparrow might find this bizarre.

According to TMZ, Johnny Depp was served with legal docs at the premiere of his movie Transcendence in Hollywood. He's been subpoenaed to try and show a jury that a woman accused of murder is actually insane.

As TMZ explains it, back in 2009, Nancy Lekon was driving a limo in L.A. and allegedly hit a pedestrian, dragging her for a mile and killing her. It sounds like a gruesome way to go. Nancy was charged with murder and will stand trial later this month.

She entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, and that's where Johnny comes in. When she was arrested, she allegedly told police officers she was in a relationship with Johnny Depp and was in the area to meet with him. Her public defender, TMZ says, wants to put Johnny on the stand, presumably to say he doesn't know her, they were never in a relationship, and she's delusional. It's one way to get to meet him, though! A sick way, but...

Do you think Johnny will actually have to get involved in this or will it be met with a “nice try”? If celebs have to show up every time someone claims to be in a relationship with them, well, that could start a really bad trend.
