Jon Bernthal’s character Shane may have bitten the dust and turned already on The Walking Dead, but the 37-year old actor’s career is still very much alive. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Jon has joined the cast of Sicario, a new feature from Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve.
The flick “revolves around a law enforcement agent (Emily Blunt) who works with a mysterious government operative (Benicio Del Toro) and an elite group of fellow agents to track down a drug kingpin.” Jon is slated to play a character named Ted.
And that’s not the only project he’s got in the pipeline either. As THR notes, this is the third role Jon has nabbed in the past few months, and he recently wrapped David Ayer’s WWII drama, Fury, which also stars Brad Pitt and Shia LeBeouf. That highly-anticipated film is scheduled to be released on November 14, 2014.
But back to Jon’s projects that are in production: He has also joined the cast of Me & Earl & the Dying Girl, based on the young adult novel about a high school student whose mom forces him to be friends with a girl who is fighting leukemia. In that Alfonso Gomez-Rejon-directed film, Jon will play a teacher named Mr. McCarthy.
And last but certainly not least, Jon will appear in an untitled Gerardo Naranjo project playing a character named Monroe. This film also stars Dakota Fanning and Evan Rachel Wood.
Whoa! Jon may not be palling around with Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and the TWD crew anymore, but he’s certainly kept himself busy!
