The lovely and talented NeNe Leakes has popped up on a handful of episodes of Glee during the show’s past three seasons as synchronized swimming coach Roz Washington. Roz is quick witted and hilarious (just like our Real Housewives of Atlanta gal!) but some people didn’t think NeNe fit with Fox’s musical dramedy.
When frequent Glee guest star Jonathan Groff appeared on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live last night, February 4, one caller wanted to know how Jon felt about NeNe’s role on the show, specifically, does she bring a positive or negative energy to the program?
Jonathan’s fellow WWHL guest, Tamar Braxton, remarked that the caller seemed to be throwing some shade at NeNe, but he answered the query like a pro. “Oh my god, I think she’s amazing,” he gushed. “I think she brings a positive energy to Glee and I think she’s hilarious.”
If you’ve seen NeNe on Glee, then you know her comedic timing, like Jonathan said, is spot on. And even though we don’t think she and Jonathan have ever been on the show at the same time, he’s clearly a big fan of the RHoA star.
“I love all of her stuff. I think she’s amazing,” the Looking cutie concluded.
We don’t know what NeNe’s future on Glee will be, but it’s worth noting that she also has a fan in the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, who cast her in his now-canceled sitcom from last year, The New Normal.
