Jonathan Winters Dies at Age 87

Actor/comedian Jonathan Winters — a consistent presence in the spotlight from 1960 right up to The Smurfs 2 in 2013 — died April 11 of natural causes. He was 87.

Jonathan played Mork & Mindy's son, Mearth, and was a regular on Hee Haw in the '80s. He was also the voice of Grandpa Smurf, as well as doing voices for Pound Puppies, Yogi's Treasure Hunt and Animaniacs. He appeared in nearly 50 movies, including It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World; The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming; and The Flintstones. We'll hear him in the new Smurfs movie, along with Katy Perry as Smurfette, when that film is released on July 31.

According to TMZ, Jonathan died around 6:30 p.m. in Montecito, CA, surrounded by friends and family. If we all have to go, and it's looking like we do, it's hard to beat dying of natural causes at age 87 surrounded by loved ones. May he rest in peace.
