Is Josh Duggar Returning to Television?
Fans of Jill & Jessa: Counting On might see Josh Duggar appear on the next season.
Nearly two years since the 19 Kids and Counting cast member's molestation scandal led to his show's ultimate cancellation, TLC is offering the disgraced reality star a chance to redeem himself — but it won't be easy.
According to In Touch, Duggar patriarch, Jim Bob, has been desperate to find a way to save the flailing 19 Kids and Counting spin-off (and the family's primary source of income) while revitalizing his son's reputation in the public eye.
A source for the magazine revealed that the father of 19 has been going back and forth for weeks with TLC to convince the network to allow the eldest Duggar son to appear on Counting On to spruce up its ratings — and his persistence may have worked.
“Nobody thought TLC would ever allow him on again,” the source said.
According to In Touch's source, Josh will be put on a trial period. The network will allow him to appear in one webisode for Counting On where the dad of four will talk about what it's like to expect a fifth child with his wife, Anna.
"[Jim] spent a month trying to convince TLC that Josh should be back on the show," the source said.
"They finally caved and agreed to let him film an upcoming Counting On webisode where he’ll talk about his joy at learning he’s going to be a father again."
The source emphasized that the web clip will act as an audition for Josh to gauge how much ratings appeal the controversial star actually has.
"If the episode is well-received, he’ll appear on the next season of Counting On," the source said.
“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever," he wrote in a statement on the Duggar family website.
"While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the Internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife."
The TLC star, who was raised in a devout Baptist family, continued to repent in his statement over his mistakes.
“I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain, and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him," he wrote.
