Josh Elliott Wants $8 Million to Stay at Good Morning America, Is He Worth It? — Report

How much is Josh Elliott worth?

According to Page Six, he has just four weeks left on his contract with ABC's Good Morning America and a money dispute could lead to him jumping ship to NBC.

Josh is said to make about $1.2 million a year now, but he's reportedly demanding $8 million a year to stay at GMA. A source told Page Six, "Josh knows he is integral to the success of GMA and wants a huge pay increase to stay. He wants $8 million, while ABC is offering $4 million."

There's a threat added in the mix. Josh's background is sports, the source added, and his agents are said to be talking to NBC about a part-news/part-sports role, "like a younger Bob Costas.” There's no way ABC wants to hear that, especially when they finally topped the TODAY Show.

Josh has been credited with some of GMA's success, since he joined the show in April 2011 and the next year GMA broke NBC's 16-year morning show winning streak. Then again, a lot of people were turned off by all the behind-the-scenes disputes at TODAY, and you never want to get too big for your britches. As the source added of Josh, “He is a very talented broadcaster, but $8 million is too much. He isn’t bigger than GMA.”

On the other hand, some people think Josh and his team may just be following the lead of Robin Roberts, who reportedly signed a long-term deal with GMA worth around $14 million. Who knew getting up super early could be so profitable?!

ABC told Page Six they expect Josh to have "a long and terrific career at ABC." Do you think Josh is worth that big a pay raise or could the show still thrive without him?
