After two years of marriage, Josh Lucas and writer Jessica Ciencin Henriquez are throwing in the towel. The Sweet Home Alabama actor’s wife filed for divorce last month in New York city, according to a People magazine source. The couple have a son, Noah Rev, who had his first birthday in June 2013.
Josh and Jessica had a whirlwind romance, becoming engaged six weeks after they met in a dog park in New York City. Josh stood by his new love as she battled cervical cancer, which she was diagnosed with early on in their relationship. Jessica tells People of that emotional time, “I was falling in love with him while I was starting treatment.”
Sadly, though they beat cancer together, they just couldn’t beat the odds when it comes to Hollywood marriages. Josh’s rep hasn’t commented on the matter, and neither party is talking about why they decided to split, but since New York isn’t a no-fault divorce state, the official court documents may reveal a clue.
Josh’s personal life may have hit the rocks, but his professional career seems to be on an upswing. He’s just completed two films slated for release in 2014 with another — I Fought the Law, alongside Dexter’s Michael C. Hall and Trophy Wife’s Malin Akerman — recently announced and headed for pre-production.
