Judge Joe Brown may have restored order in the court for the 15 years he spent making the final call on hundreds of cases on TV, but this time, it’ll be Joe who’ll have to succumb to the mighty gavel.
Joe was arrested and sentenced to five days in jail after he was found in contempt of court Monday in Tennessee, according to CNN. Joe got “pretty raucous” and “challenged the authority” of Harold Horne, the judge who was presiding in the courtroom at the time.
So what did Joe get so rowdy for? The former TV judge was in court to represent a client in a child-support case… only to find out that his case didn’t make it to the day’s docket, like it was supposed to. And after that, Joe’s behavior rattled judge Harold, who’s usually a “real laid-back guy,” according to Chief Magistrate Dan Michael.
Joe was later released on his own recognizance, but not before he was found in contempt of court five times.
We won’t be seeing Joe’s outburst on TV, though — his show was canceled last year after Joe and CBS failed to come to a contract agreement when Joe refused to accept a pay cut in his $20 million salary.
It could be worse: At least it wasn’t Judge Judy who found herself behind bars. Or Judge Trudy. Bring in the dancing lobsters!
