You’d think a teen idol like Justin Bieber would be better at talking to girls. But if a new report is to be believed, the 19-year-old pop star had nothing nice to say during a recent trip to Australia.

Here’s the story: The Biebs was hanging out poolside at the Hyatt Regency in Perth on December 8 when he spotted a young girl chatting up her friends. But rather than compliment the teen or, you know, not say anything at all, Justin reportedly called her a “beached whale.” A beached whale. It’s so harsh we really hope it’s not true.

Unfortunately, however, multiple hotel guests have confirmed they overheard the mean-spirited sneer with hotel guest Helen Robinett telling a leading Australian news site, “There were four young girls in bikinis [including] one girl who was gorgeous looking with long dark hard and would have been about a size 14.”

Helen says the Biebs turned to said girl and asked “What are you, Hawaiian or something?” to which she replied “No, I’m not.”

“Then he said, ‘You look like a beached whale,’” says Helen, adding that Justin told the teen to “go on The Biggest Loser.”

“Everyone heard and there was silence,” adds Helen, who says she filed a formal complaint with the hotel. “It was almost like his security were used to it.”

Another hotel guest says she told the girl “not to take any notice of him … Bieber seemed to think he was funny. He was smiling and looking to his burly minders for their approval.”

The Hyatt Regency did not confirm if they had received a complaint with the marketing communications manager, Rachelle Taylor, saying, “We are a hotel. We have hundreds of guests staying with us. We simply cannot speak on behalf of every single guest that comes in and interacts with another guest. But obviously we want all our guests to feel comfortable and not intimidated by anyone.”

Whether this is just a bad case of he said-she said, a pop star coming under fire for being a pop star, or flat out rudeness on the part of Justin, we just hope we never have to type the words “beached whale” again.
