Update (April 30, 2014):
Three months after being charged with what we're now hearing are two counts of felony drug possession, Lil Za has struck a plea deal in the case.
According to TMZ, if Za toes the line for the next year, the judge will reduce his felony charge to a misdemeanor. He's also got to do 20 hours of community service and complete a drug program.
As for that misdemeanor vandalism charge following the broken telephone incident, he pled no contest and has to pay $600.
Update (January 31, 2014):
Lil Za has been charged with three felonies in connection to the raid on Justin Bieber’s Calabasas home earlier this month. He received two counts for felony drug possession of MDMA (Ecstasy) and Oxycodone; the third count comes after he broke a phone at the jail.
If convicted, he faces up to nine years in jail, reports TMZ.
Update (6:30 p.m. PT):
Okay, nobody is having a worse day than Justin Bieber's pal Lil Za. TMZ now reports that Za was arrested a second time — just moments before he was to be released.
What for, you ask? For having a nasty temper, from the sound of things. Za was about to post bail and get out of jail for the felony drug charge he incurred earlier in the day when, for some unknown reason, he reportedly busted a phone inside the jail.
Well, just when he thought he was out, they pulled him back in and re-booked him — this time for vandalism. Until he’s booked, we won’t know for sure whether the new charge is a felony or misdemeanor. Either way, it’s definitely not shaping up to be Lil Za’s best day ever.
Update (3:15 p.m. PT):
Hold the phone! It may not be cocaine the cops found earlier at Justin’s house. Now TMZ reports the white powder might be the increasingly famous form of ecstasy known as Molly.
If that’s the case, it would mean good news for the arrested Lil Za as the punishment for Molly possession is much lower than for cocaine. That is, if it was even his to begin with.
Update (11:50 a.m. PT):
A L.A. County Sheriff’s Department representative says the drug was “in plan view” during the police search this morning and that Justin was “not connected” to the cocaine.
Lil Za is being held on $20,000 bail, according to TMZ.
Update (11:30 a.m. PT):
Justin Bieber’s bud Lil Za has been arrested on a felony drug possession charge at the Biebs’ house, reports TMZ. No details yet on what type of drugs are connected to the charge.
Original story (January 14, 2014, 10:28 a.m. PT):
We hope Justin Bieber didn’t have any plans this morning. TMZ reports the 19-year-old pop star got an early wake-up call courtesy of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Eleven patrol cars (and a battering ram) reportedly arrived at Bieber’s home shortly after 8 a.m. on January 14. Once there, they executed a search warrant tied to that egg-throwing report from last week.
Sources tell TMZ the officers are “looking for any evidence” that ties Justin to the egging of his next door neighbor’s house; they’ve already reviewed the TMZ video of the vandalism, which is too dark to make out who threw the eggs but does include the voice of the likely perpetrator.
Somehow or other the vandalism adds up to a felony search warrant, says TMZ, with police paying special attention to anything that could be related to the incident including surveillance video from Justin’s house and any “other eggs in the house.”
Potentially more troublesome for the Biebs than a fresh carton, however, is TMZ’s claim that if the cops find anything else illegal during the course of their search, “it’s fair game.”
As of 8:26 a.m. PT, TMZ reports deputies had detained Justin in his garage while they conducted the search. Details to come as we get them.
