Update (January 31, 2014):
Now that Justin Bieber has been formally charged with assaulting a limo driver in Canada last December, details are starting to emerge about the night in question. According to TMZ, the dispute between Justin and the limo driver started over a disagreement about the radio volume. When Justin asked the driver to turn up the music, he apparently didn't make it loud enough for the singer's taste. The driver claims that Justin began hurling obscenities and smacking him several times in the head.
Justin's lawyer says he's innocent, and that it was a member of his posse, not the baby-faced singer, who assaulted the driver.
Update (January 30, 2014):
According to E! Online, the Toronto police report that last night, Justin “arrived to turn himself, was finger-printed and had a mugshot taken, and then was released on his own recognizance. Justin will appear in court at Old City Hall on March 10 at 11 a.m. local time.
Justin’s lawer also made a statement. “The Toronto Police service requested that Justin Bieber appear in Toronto today to face an allegation of assault relating to an incident on December 29, 2013,” the statement said. “We anticipate that this manner will be treated as a summary offense, the equivalent of a misdemeanor in the United States. Our position is that Mr. Bieber is innocent. As the matter is now before the Court, it would be inappropriate to address the specifics of either the allegation or of our defense at this time.”
Original story (January 29, 2014):
Justin Bieber just can’t seem to stay out of trouble with the law this month! The “As Long As You Love Me” singer will face criminal assault charges linked to an alleged attack on a Toronto limo driver in December, according to TMZ.
At the tail end of 2013, Justin was allegedly involved in an altercation with a limo driver. From the initial report, it appeared it was a member of the Biebs’ entourage and not the artist himself that was being investigated.
However, TMZ is now learning that Justin is in Toronto where he will turn himself in at an area police station. The singer will be “booked for assault, given a citation, and released on his own recognizance."
Apparently, Justin is already not in the Toronto Police Department’s good graces, having failed to appear for an interview regarding the incident. Three of TMZ's witnesses have already implicated Justin in the alleged assault.
We will update this developing story with more details as they emerge.
