Update (2:40 p.m. PST, July 9, 2014):

The verdict’s in. As expected, Justin pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor vandalism charge. He now must serve two years supervised probation, perform five days of community service, attend 12 weekly anger management sessions, and — in perhaps the most unexpected development  pay his neighbor $80,900. That’s more than four times the original estimated restitution of $20,000. Good thing he can afford it (we think).

Update (10:29 a.m. PST, July 9, 2014):

Good news for Justin Bieber today. He’ll be facing a misdemeanor count of vandalism rather than the felony charge recommended by the sheriff’s department, reports CNN. This is all tied to that incident back in January involving the egging of Justin’s neighbor.

TMZ adds Justin’s lawyer is expected to appear in court today, July 9, and plead no contest to the misdemeanor charge. That’ll mean no jail time for Justin but he will have one year on probation with community service. Plus, $20,000 in restitution to the neighbor in question. Guess all things considered this one landed sunny side up!

Original story (June 16, 2014):

Justin Bieber is starting the week off with a bang. The 20-year-old will be charged with criminal vandalism today (June 16), according to a TMZ report.

The charges are in connection with that egging case from earlier this year. In case you’ve forgotten among the slew of other legal issues orbiting the Biebs, this is the one where his former neighbor accused Justin of egging his home in January. Said neighbor provided video footage he claimed proved the pop star was the one behind the vandalism, which he estimates cost $20,000 in damages.

That egging supposedly led to the warrant that led to Justin’s house being searched and his friend Lil Za’s arrest just a handful of days after the egg incident. Soon after the “egg raid,” Justin flew to Miami where the next round of legal woes began (aka that whole jail stay).

Justin’s since moved out of the neighborhood where the egging went down (Khloe Kardashian promptly packing up and moving in) but the charges didn’t go away with the change of address. TMZ is unclear on if Justin will be charged with a misdemeanor or a felony. Either way, this isn’t the sunny-side up news we’re sure Biebs wanted to start the week with.
